Faisal HUDA (President & CEO, CSL Silicones Inc.) shares insights on the development of HVIC (High Voltage Insulator Coating) technologies, including guests getting an opportunity to view the practical use of the patented Si-COAT® Automated Mobile Coating System™, (AMCS™).
Innovative technology is helping to combat destructive graffiti in Montreal’s Rue du Fort tunnel and improve quality of life for residents and visitors while decreasing costs for the city. City of Montreal officials announced that the boroughs will now be initiating a graffiti mitigation program that includes the use of CSL Silicones Inc.’s Si-COAT 529 Anti-Graffiti Protective Coating.
The first application of this Anti-Graffiti Protective Coating was applied to the Rue du Forte tunnel. Before this technology was adopted by the boroughs, they were constantly repainting the tunnel at a cost of $3500 per incidence as stated in a CJAD news interview with borough Ville Marie spokesperson, Anik de Repentigny. The problem is that once the graffiti has been painted over, it is a blank canvas inviting the vandals back, which leads to an endlessly expensive situation. With the use of CSL’s Si-COAT Anti-Graffiti Coating, the graffiti can be washed off with ordinary water and the coating will maintain its original aesthetic value. The city of Montreal and its boroughs conducted extensive field trial testing on many different graffiti protection options. CSL’s Si-COAT Anti-Graffiti Protective Coatings were the leaders of this competition; the officials were more than impressed with the ease of use, cost efficiency, ease of graffiti removal and durability.
Benefits of the protective coating include fast cure times, durability, excellent salt intrusion mitigation properties, breathability, application ease, UV stability, and of course its main purpose of not allowing graffiti materials to bond permanently to the coating surface and thereby enabling them to be washed off with regular water under low pressure.
Si-COAT Anti-Graffiti Protective Coatings have been gaining widespread approvals throughout Canada and the United States of America through city officials, DOTs and businesses. CSL Silicones has obtained many independent lab tests that prove the coating’s strengths across many qualities, in an unbiased scenario.
The Si-COAT Anti-Graffiti Protective Coatings can be applied over a wide variety of substrates, including metal, concrete, brick, stone, wood, fiberglass or pre-existing coatings. The pigmented version of the coating can be used directly over existing graffiti to hide the vandalism and provide an anti-graffiti solution in a single step, as was done in the Rue du Fort Tunnel.
Using CSL’s Si-COAT Anti-Graffiti Protective Coating, the City of Montreal will cut down on time, costs and frustrations in the constant battle against graffiti. Si-COAT Anti-Graffiti Protective Coating is a permanent coating that will withstand multiple graffiti removal events and ensure long-term savings for the city.
